The sheer beauty of who Christ is, and of who we are in Him is…astounding. Consider this: the Father’s design to bring us to Himself through Jesus did not occur at the moment mankind needed salvation. It actually occurred before creation. Before He spoke the heavens and earth into existence He saw us, He knew us, and He destined us to be united with His Son so that through Him we could receive every spiritual blessing the Father has to offer (Ephesians 1:3-8).
To seal this destiny, the Father actually created everything through the Son, and for Him (Colossians 1:16). So now, everyone that comes to the Father by uniting with Christ, comes to the Father through the Son and enters into the fullness of his (her) purpose–he enters into the fullness of the Father’s heart.
Jesus declared that He is the way, the truth, and the life…that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). The reason that no one can come to the Father except through Jesus is because Jesus Himself is indeed the fullness of the Father. The ways of Jesus are the ways of the Father. The truth He revealed is the truth of the Father. And the life He lived is the revelation of the Father. It’s not that Jesus is a doorway that we have to get past in order to get to the Father. It’s that Jesus is the life given for us to live in because in Him is the fullness of the Father.
Think about this…God, in all His wisdom and love, created us through His Son. Then His Son, who is Himself God, emptied Himself of His divine privileges and became a man (Philippians 2:6-7). He did this for the purpose of redemption and revelation–He did this for love. So that now through Jesus’ death and resurrection, the creation that was lost (us) is not just redeemed back to a creation in right standing with God, but instead redeemed up to children in relationship with the Father.
This was the Father’s intention all along…to adopt us into His own family by uniting us with Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:5). Jesus, the Son of God, became a man so that mankind through Him could become sons (daughters) of God.
You were created for love. You were created to be sons and daughters who receive and reveal the fullness–the fullness–of the Father’s glory and love. And the Father is revealed fully in Jesus Christ. Hear me on this: In Jesus Christ–the Son of God/the Son of Man–is the fullness of the Father, as well as the epitome of everything that the Father has created you to be.
Live out the identity of the Son, and thereby walk in the fullness of the Father.
